Stopping the Advancement of Deserts
Today, the advancement of global warming is increasing the severity of desertification in dry regions.
Aero Asahi uses the data gathered by sensors in satellites and aircraft to track deforestation and analyze ground cover to monitor desertification. In addition, combining this with infrastructure information can used to support the establishment of effective countermeasures. |

Restoring the Blue Sky
The seasonal meteorological phenomenon of yellow dust that originates out of inland Asia and affects much of East Asia requires urgent environmental countermeasures. These fine dry soil particles are carried high into the atmosphere and dumped over much of China, Korea and Japan, and have become even more serious over the last decade due to the increasing levels of industrial pollutants contained in the dust.
One step in reducing the damage caused by yellow dust is to restore the vegetation eliminating the bare earth now exists.
The state of ground cover is analyzed using satellite image data and then this data is combined with a GIS to identify the areas requiring forestation and other measures to make it possible to create effective action plans in educing this phenomenon. |
